Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Kaduna State Branch was inaugurated in 1991. The
foundation president was Prof Clara Ladi Ejembi, a Public Health Physician who currently works in
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna. Since then, the Association has had 7 presidents namely Prof
Juliana Okpapi (1997-2003); Dr Deborah Haggai (2003-2007); Prof Jane Anyiam (2007-2013); Prof
Elizabeth Nwasor (2014-2017); Dr Nana Hawwa Madugu (2017-2019); Dr Anisah Yahya (2019-2021). The
current president for the 2021-2023 biennium is Dr Zainab Kwaru Muhammad-Idris, a Public Health
Physician. The Association has three zones in Zaria, Kaduna and Kafanchan to increase her reach to
members.
