    We have organized medical outreaches to educate vulnerable women about their health, especially on sexual and reproductive health, breast and cervical cancers as well as non-communicable diseases like Hypertension, diabetes and dental health. We have also addressed adolescent sexual and reproductive health

Who We Are

The Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) is a non-political, non-profit making organization of registered female Medical and Dental practitioners. MWAN was established in Nigeria in 1976, incorporated with the Corporate Affairs Commission as a Non-Governmental Organization in 1984 and has over thirty State branches including the Federal Capital Territory.
Our aim is to improve the health of Nigerians with emphasis on Women and Children. Our motto is “Matris Animo Curantis” meaning to “Heal with the love of a mother”. We are affiliated to the Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA) and belong to the Near East/African Region. MWAN is also an affiliate of the Nigerian Medical Association.
