MWAN Borno was started by Prof Esther Ajolochukwu in 1989 and formally inaugurated as a state
chapter in 1995 when she became the pioneer Borno State MWAN President. Since then MWAN has
been carrying out various activities from time to time. However, since the coming in of this present
EXCO, MWAN has been able to encourage more members to come on board. Activities include breast
and cervical cancer screenings, school health programmes. We have also been able to organize
social gatherings for members on regular basis.
MWAN Borno through facilitation of the MWIA President, Dr Eleanor Nwadinobi secured a Grant from
Global Fund For Women (GFW) and Implemented at IDP Camps and host communities in Maiduguri.
MWAN Borno also became a member of Women led organizations in Borno. Our future goals include
having an equipped office for MWAN.
